September 25, 2023 THE HOPEFULLY NOT SO BORING ADVENTURES OF ELDER WILLIAMSON CHAPTER XXXXIX
here i am again.. so far away from home.. i don't know where i am.. down on this broken road... like and leave a comment down below if you know the song...
*it's thursday.. today we had an.. interesting day
*we we're supposed to go to barahona around 5ish, because that's when the last guagua leaves.. we were told
*but basically after lunch around 2ish, the 2 dominicans had packed up and were leaving out the door without having told us anything
*sooo we were kinda confused, but we just assumed they were gonna go to barahona, and we would catch up later
*so we go into the kitchen and realize they left a bunch of rice and stuff everywhere, and we were about to leave for over 24 hours, and we're very sick of having so many maggots so often, so we started cleaning a little bit (cuz we've tried a lot, but it was always in vain.. they just love living in filth for some reason)
*that's not normal dominican stuff btw.. welll.. not always.. but mostly just those 2 specific elders
*so anyways we clean a little for like an hour or so, and we're nowhere near being done, but it's good enough for now
*so we left and get to the guagua stop (a guagua is a tiny bus thingy btw) and we find our companions still there
*so ig they had been waiting for us? and were pretty mad, because there were no more guaguas (it's only like 3:30) at this point, so idk how that works
*but anyways we sit there for like 30 min, and the dominicans are mad at the gringos, and i'm just trying to stay out of it, cuz i just legit can't deal with this crap anymore
*so i said a prayer, and then started reading the book of mormon out loud in spanish (what i do to feel better pretty much in any situation)
*and after like 30 min this guy in a guagua shows up, and i got my hopes up, cuz it said barahona on it, but then turns out he isn't actually going there, and he confirmes that there are no more guaguas going to barahona
*but then my comp makes a deal with him, and it's again.. 1000 dop.. luckily i only had to pay 300 dop this time instead of the full 1000
*however.. i am now completely broke once again.. so i'm on the roof of the zone leaders house at 7:49 pm writing an email and i have no idea how who my comp is (i'll find out tomorrow) or how we are going to get back to vicente noble tomorrow.. as.. neither i nor elder jorgensen (the other gringo) have a single peso
*i'm also very hungry, and kinda sick.. hopefully we can find a place around here that takes card for food.. and hopefully we can find a way to get some cash for tomorrow.. cuzzz.. i have no idea how we're getting home.. but anyways.. at least there's a semi interesting email.. if not incredibly long because of my immense boredom
*welp.. turns out we got some food..
*we first had to go to this restaurant that some other missionaries told us would take card
*they don't take card
*we walk to the ATM and back
*then we had to go to a different house that was like 25 min away.. i have no idea why
*then we ate our food.. then went and "slept" on the roof
*we tried to sleep, but because we were just laying on bare concrete it was kinda hard
*there was a really cool lightning storm tho, so it kept us intertained
*i probably slept like 2 or 3 hours, and then we got up at like 4:30 to make it on the bus to the capital for the transfers
*and we were still late
*anyways it takes like 3 hours to go from barahona to the capital.. so that was fun
*and then we got our new comps.. got back on the bus.. and did it again
*and most of us had no food or water.. sooo i was pretty thirsty for that ride back
*buttt we all made it back
*anyways.. i have a new comp
*it's elder gilbert.. he just got out of cambita (where i was at for 6 months)
*and he's super lit, it's gonna be a good transfer for sure
that's all tho.. thatttt was a long one.. have a great week, love you guys!
acts 12:6-11
And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison. And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands. And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me. And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision. When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him. And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.
