July 15, 2024 THE HOPEFULLY NOT SO BORING ADVENTURES OF ELDER WILLIAMSON CHAPTER LXXXXI

weeee had transfers.. said goodbye to canada boy, and i have received a new comp.. we got a call on tuesday before transfers, and pres told me i was gonna be training again.. i thought it would be a gringo, cuz usually there are more gringos that come in at this time of year than latinos.. buttt at these transfers there was only one gringo elder that came in.. sooo i got elder Ibargüen.. he's from panama, so he speaks spanish, and he was studying english before the mission so he knows a little.. annnd he was called to speak haitian creole.. which is a littttle awkward not gonna lie, cuz i definitely don't be speaking such language.. cuzzz i wanted to focus on mastering spanish (which i am still far from).. and the other thing, is that there aren't any haitain speaking wards or even branches in our mission.. annnd because of that, there are no sacrament meetings in haitain.. sooo i haven't put any emphasis in teaching in creole, because they need to know spanish anyways to understand what's going on at church.. howwwever, now that missionaries are actually being called to speak haitain, we will be teaching some haitains!.. ngl tho, i wasn't the most excited person when i found out my next comp would be latino.. and it's not that i have a problem with latinos, but offff latino comps that i hAve had so far.. they we're pretty lazy.. and even exceedingly difficult to live with and try to be a missionary with.. buttt the good news is, that elder ibargüen is actually lit, he's a hard worker, and he's ready to blow this area upppp.. buttt i still doubt i'm abouta try learning creole, cuzzz.. i'm still working on spanish.. also mans is 26.. sooo it's interesting.. but he's chill, and we're gonna cook.. that's all i have to report for this week, have a great week, love you guys! my boy elder cundick over in liberia had this scripture in his email, and it's fire.. 1 nephi 1:6, 7, 9, 12, 14, 19... and so on and so on and so on.. and here it is.. "And it came to pass..." it came.. and then it passed.. trials and hard times.. are hard.. and it's super difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel, when we've just entered into it.. and it's even harder if we're afraid of the dark.. what if the tunnel doesn't have an end?.. what if i get lost and i can't find my way out?.. what if i never find that light again?.. buTtt.. we read "and it came to pass" hundreds if not thousands of times in the scriptures.. the hard times came, and then they went.. and we made it out of the tunnel.. we know that we will always be able to overcome the difficulties of the fallen world that we live in.. when in the creation, Jesus didn't destroy the darkness, instead he only sEparated it from the light.. so that we could have balance.. because as hard as it is to see the light at the end of the tunnel, our joy is so much greater when we come out on the other side.. the really difficult part however, is finding joy in spite of the darkness.. and even often in the darkness.. being grateful that there even iS a light at the end of the tunnel, and at the beginning as well.. because without the atonement of Jesus Christ, we wouldn't have that light.. the amazing thing about the atonment, is that we don't have to walk through the tunnel in complete darkness.. Christ can bE our flashlight.. notice that when you are in darkness and you turn on a flashlight, the darkness is still there.. it surrounds us.. but the flashlight can help us see more clearly thru the darkness.. it can give us comfort and hope that we really can make it out of the tunnel.. we just have to turn it on.. i invite the 2 people who will read this to search for the light of Christ in your lives.. turn on that flash light, and remember that the hard times will come.. and then they will pass.. and it came to pass
